Beltrame Costabili, in Rome, writes to Alfonso d'Este, in Ferrara, introducing one of Raphael's 'garzoni', travelling to Venice, perhaps to buy pigments; the Duke may take this opportunity to enquire as to progress on Raphael's work.

Ex.a per essere lui stato altre volte a Ferrara, e va a Venezia mandato da epso Raphael, credo per comperare colori. El me ha promesso se presentarà a V. Ex.a. Quella li poterà comettere quanto lo haverà a dire a Raphael circa la opera sua, e da epso intenderà la bona dispositione de epso Raphael de servirla. A la cui gratia de continuo me racomando.
