Se nel scriver a me fosse concessa La excellenza che a voi ne la pittura, Non, Raphael, da me vostra figura Men che da voi la mia vedreste expressa, Ma più vivace assai, perché è sommessa Vostra arte a gli anni; vive la scrittura Di tanti antichi ancor: qual opra dura Di Zeusi o Apelle? Ognuna ha il tempo oppressa. Ma raro è chi ben scriva, e resta extinto, Se chiaro inchiostro no ‘l consacra e honora, Il descritto più presto assai che il pinto. Pur io dirò, viva il mio verso o mora, Che non in pinger sol avete vinto La man di Zeusi, ma in donar anchora.
