Sebastiano del Piombo, in Rome, writes to Michelangelo, in Florence, that his "Resurrection of Lazarus" has been finished and displayed in the Vatican and that, according to him, it is better than Raphael’s Sistine Chapel tapestries.

[...] vi fo intender come io ho finita la tavola, et òlla portata in Pallazo; e più presto è piaciuta a ognuno che despiaciuta, ecepto agli ordenarii, ma non sano che dire. A me basta che Monsignor Reverendissimo me ha decto che io l’o contentato più di quello lui dessiderava. E credo la mia tavola sia meglio disegnata cha e’ pani de’ razi che son venuti de Fiandra.
